Curriculum for Grades K-5

 

Kindergarten:

God Made the World

During this year your child will be learning about God, that he is our creator and the many gifts we receive from him.  They will also learn about Jesus and how he wants us to share God’s love with each other.

Prayers your child will be learning:  Sign of the Cross, Our Father, and Hail Mary.

Grade 1: 

God Loves Us

During first grade your child will be learning that we are all followers of Jesus and how we celebrate and live our faith day to day.  They will also learn about Jesus and how we all belong to the church.

Prayers your child will be learning:  Sign of the Cross, Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory to the Father.

Grade 2: 

Sacrament of Reconciliation and First Eucharist

Jesus Shares God’s Life

During second grade your child will be learning that Jesus Christ is with us always. The main focus this year will be that we as Catholics are called to Penance and Reconciliation through Jesus Christ and how Jesus gives himself to us in the Eucharist.  We will also discuss how to live our Catholic faith. 

Prayers your child will be learning:  Sign of the Cross, Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory to the Father, and Act of Contrition.

Grade 3:

We Are the Church

During third grade your child will be learning about the Mass, They will learn the parts of the Mass as well as the sacramentals used throughout the Mass.  We will also teach the children about the seven sacraments and the liturgical calendar.

Prayers your child will be learning:  Sign of the Cross, Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory to the Father, Act of Contrition, Stations of the Cross, Mysteries of the Rosary, and the Rosary.

Grade 4:

God’s Law Guides Us

During fourth grade your child will be learning about God’s Law through the Ten Commandments and how the commandments help us to love God and others by growing in our faith through Jesus Christ.

Prayers your child will be learning:  Sign of the Cross, Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory to the Father, Act of Contrition, Stations of the Cross, and Mysteries of the Rosary, the Rosary, the Ten Commandments, and the Beatitudes

Grade 5:

We Meet Jesus in the Sacraments

During fifth grade your child will be learning how Jesus shares his life with us. The main focus of the year will be on the Seven Sacraments, and by believing in God and all that the church teaches, we can bring the good news of Christ to the world.

Prayers your child will be learning:  Sign of the Cross, Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory to the Father, Act of Contrition, Stations of the Cross, Mysteries of the Rosary, the Rosary, the Ten Commandments, the Beatitudes, and Gloria.
