The St. Francis Confirmation Preparation is a 2-year program. As every good religious education program would - we want to work with you in sharing our faith with the children of our parish. Think of Catechism as training: training for being a person of faith. This "training" will give your children a chance to build a relationship with Christ, and to discover ways to pray, ways to live in faith, and how to be part of the parish community. We hope that you will bring them to Mass on a weekly basis, pray with them as a family, and share with them your experiences in faith.
CONFIRMATION I:
In 9th Grade students can begin Confirmation I. Classes are held on Monday nights from 6:30-7:30PM The format includes a topic presentation followed by small group discussions. There are typically 12 classes per year. Any student missing 3 or more classes is asked to attend a make-up session or other retreat experience.
In the summer between Confirmation I and II students will complete a "30-Hour Service Project ." All projects must be approved by the director. Contact Jyl Dittbenner (

CONFIRMATION II:
Upon completion of Confirmation I, students are ready for the next step. Usually this begins in 10th Grade. Again there will be around 12 sessions, as well as a Retreat. The retreat is required. There will be a few options for the retreat - but it is up to the students to fit it into their schedule.
Confirmation I and II Option 2:
Friends and Family Program is run over four extended evening sessions lasting 2.5 Hours each on Thursdays from 6:00-8:30PM. You are required to bring an adult with you, pick someone who is over the age of 25 to share in this series of faith formation. For this option, you must attend ALL FOUR SESSIONS with absolutely NO EXCEPTIONS!
Confirmation Retreat Requirement:
All Confirmation students must attend a retreat. One will be scheduled during Confirmation II, but the 30-Hour Famine, and the Shack-A-Thon are acceptable alternatives.
Confirmation Ceremony:
The Confirmation Ceremony usually takes place on a Saturday morning in April or May. Expect to attend a rehearsal on the night before. When choosing a sponsor, Candidates should keep in mind that parents are not eligible for this role. Parents are already responsible for their child's faith. Choose a sponsor who has a strong Catholic faith and a good relationship with the candidate. Confirmation Candidates must also choose a Saint name. The saint name chosen may be their middle name, a baptism name, or even a saint they admire and can look to for guidance.
