Holy Orders

“So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash another’s feet….Very truly, I tell you, servants are not greater than their master, nor are messengers greater than the one who sent them.” John 13: 12-17

Holy Orders is a sacrament instituted by Christ who ordained the Apostles at the Last Supper. It is administered to those becoming ordained into the priesthood through the laying on of hands by the bishop, through which the priest is given the power to serve the Church through his preaching, teaching and celebration of the Sacraments.
