Mass Intentions

ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI PARISH

Requests for Mass Intentions

New Policy Effective 10/23/26

In the past few years, we have experienced a growing volume of requests for Mass intentions – a wonderful phenomenon! However, because Masses have already been booked through the first half of 2027, we are making a few changes to our policy so as to allow more parishioners to request a Mass within a shorter timeframe.

·     From now until May 1, 2027, we are taking no further requests for Mass Intentions.

·     Next May, we will begin taking Mass Intention requests for six months at a time.

·     Beginning on May 1, 2027, parishioners may submit a form (available from the Parish Office before the booking window opens) requesting Masses from July – December of 2027.

·     Beginning on November 1, 2027, parishioners may submit a form requesting Masses from January – June of 2028.

·     This six-month pattern will continue, with the booking window opening in May and November of each year. (Exceptions will be made for deceased parishioners: the family may request a Mass for the one-year anniversary of the parishioner’s death when planning the funeral with the parish).

·     Each family may request up to one Mass per month (thus, up to a total of six Masses per booking window).

·     Each Mass is offered for only one person, couple, or family - either for the repose of the soul of the deceased or for the intentions of the living. Below are examples of six separate Mass intentions:

+ Bob Smith

+ Bob & Cindy Smith

+ Deceased Members of the Smith Family

Intentions of John Jones

Intentions of John and Janet Jones

Intentions of the Jones Family

·     Masses on Solemnities will not be open for intention requests.

·     No more than three First Fridays or three First Saturdays may be requested during each six-month period.

·     Parishioners will need to call, email, or stop by the Parish Office to request Mass Intentions. A stipend of $10 per Mass is payable at the time of request.

Thank you for your understanding, and especially for your prayers for those whom each Mass is offered.
